Bhutan has always been a place of attraction for international tourists. Bhutan has decided to reduce the tourist fee to $100, which was initially $200. COVID-19 has affected each and every sector, especially tourism. Bhutan has been suffering and struggling since then.
Soon after the end of COVID-19, Bhutan increased its tourist fees from $65 to $200 in September.
Bhutan decreased its tourist fees, hoping for more tourist arrivals seeing the reduced price. This new reduced rate will come to action from September and will continue for four years, stated by the government in a statement.
The statement includes
“This is in view of the important role of the tourism sector in generating employment, earning foreign exchange and in boosting overall economic growth.”
According to the reports Bhutan has been isolated for several years. The matter of tourism came to action in 1974 with 300 visitors. After that it never stopped getting visitors according to the official reports.
